Deadly tornadoes tore through Tennessee: 6 casualties, two dozens were injured and buildings were destroyedDicembre 11, 2023
On Saturday several storms and tornadoes tore through central Tennessee, causing 6 people to lose their lives in Clarksville and Madison, including a kid, while nearly two dozen were injured. Two tornadoes were confirmed, including a powerful EF3 tornado, which had winds of 136 to 165 miles per hour and hit almost in the exact same area in December 2021, while another 11 tornadoes were estimated between Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and northern Florida. The severe storms were accompanied by strong wind gusts demolishing trees, buildings, causing people to lose their homes, while more than 80.000 people in Tennessee were left without power as of Saturday evening.
The storm’s front was so powerful that it was more than 1200 miles long, extending from the Gulf of Mexico coast to the northeastern states and the Canadian border. Unfortunately, Tennessee is used to facing tornadoes and in general severe weather over the last years, as the state is located in one of the highest tornado risk areas of the USA.
