
Arctic air masses are already dominating central and northern Europe, bringing temperature drop, patchy frost, wintry showers or snow and freezing conditions. The extreme cold air masses are bringing temperatures -8 to -10°C below normal, while in Scandinavia are reaching even lower levels nearly -12°C.
Today, many capitals across Europe are experiencing freezing conditions with temperatures below 0°C during the day. Midday temperatures today reached 0°C in London, 1°C in Paris, -2°C in Copenhagen, -1°C in Prague and Budapest, -5°C in Talin and -10°C in Helsinki. Snow also fell in London between Sunday night to Monday morning.


Over the next few days, the cold air masses will insist on bringing even lower temperatures spreading freezing conditions with minimum temperatures reaching -5 to -7°C to Central Europe and -10 to -13°C to northern Europe, especially across the Baltic states and Scandinavia. Maximum temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday will not be over 0°C in much of central and northern Europe, while in northeastern Europe many cities will not exceed the -3 to -5°C during the day. As the arctic air masses are spinning around Scandinavia are bringing temperatures that even reach -20 to -25°C across the northern parts.
Scattered snow showers are also expected to fall across central and northern Europe, which will be more intense across Scandinavia, the Baltic states, Poland, Belarus, Czechia, Slovakia and the northern parts of Ukraine and the Balkans. The most cm of snow is expected to fall in the Baltic states and Finland where the snow accumulation rates can even reach 20-30cm (during 72h).
