Severe tornadoes in Oklahoma caused destructions and two deaths (photos and videos)


On Wednesday evening, more than a dozen tornadoes, which some of them caused severe destructions in Oklahoma. The most dangerous and severe tornado was reported in Cole, a small city, which caused two people to lose their lives and many were injured, while bringing extensive damages to buildings and roads. Another severe tornado was reported in Shawnee of Oklahoma, causing a gas leak at a department store and many destructions to buildings. The tornadoes in Oklahoma and the nearby states left about 20.000 electricity customers without power.

The tornadoes in Oklahoma were described as erratic, as they did not head in the same direction as the weather system. In other words, on Wednesday night the weather system was traveling towards the east-northeast, while the tornadoes were heading nothwestwards, making it difficult to predict.

Today, new rain or thunderstorms spread across the affected areas, while during the next two days severe weather is expected to the central Plains, northern Plains and the central and southern states. In more details, large hail, damaging winds and the risk of tornadoes is possible, especially across eastern Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee.
