Severe weather in central and eastern Europe: heavy rain, snow, frost and flash floods

A cold pool in the upper atmosphere along with a wide low pressure system are bringing heavy rain, snow across central, northern and eastern Europe, while temperature drop is also expected with many countries experiencing frost.

Temperatures over the next few days in many countries across central-eastern and northern Europe will not be over zero with maximum temperature for example -2°C and minimum -6°C in Berlin and Prague, -2°C to -7°C in Minsk, 0°C to -11°C in Stockholm, while locally the minimum temperature will reach -20°C to -25°C in Norway and Sweden. Patchy frost is also expected in this regions while there is also the risk of fog.

Sleet or snow, locally heavy, is expected across central, northwestern and northern Europe with snow accumulations rates reaching, for the next 3 days, locally even 20-30cm, while 40-50cm over the Alps. Heavy rain, showers or scattered thunderstorms are also expected in Italy, the Balkans and eastern Turkey where locally will be intense. Western Europe will also experience unstable weather conditions over the net few days especially from Wednesday night as a deep Atlantic low pressure system will bring heavy showers and strong winds.
