A deep low pressure system is spinning over Ireland today and will head eastwards over the next few days, bringing severe thunderstorms and outbreasts of intense rain which will be accompanied by large hail, a risk of waterspouts and tornadoes, strong wind gusts and a significant temperature drop. This system will be localy intense and could produce flash floods, while accumulation rates could reach 90-120 mm locally during the next 5 days!

In more detail, the system today is already affecting the British Isles and France spreading scattered thunderstorms, while over the next few hours will reach the Low Countries due to the strong southwesterly winds.

Tomorrow, as the system is heading eastwards will continue bringing rain or scattered thunderstorms across the British Isles, France, the Low Countries, the Alps and German, which will be more intense over Britain, Ireland and locally in France. Temperature drop is expected, due to the rain and the strong wind gusts which can reach 60-80km/h across England, Ireland, Scotland and northwestern France.

In the middle of the week, the system will head eastwards, spreading severe thunderstorms towards the east, which will be locally intense, producing large hail and possible waterspouts, tornadoes and flash floods. The countries which will be more influenced by will be France, Germany, the Low Countries, the Alps and northern Italy. Strong winds are also expecting mosty across Denmark, and the southern coasts of Norway and Sweden with gusts reaching 90-100km/h. Temperature drop will be more intense and locally can drop even 10°C.

At the end of the week, the system will head far to the east, influencing also eastern Europe, bringing heavy rain or thunderstorms across Poland, the Balkans, central-southern Italy and Ukraine and a significant temperature drop.

As sunny spells will start appearing the last days of the week across western Europe, a new system, an extratropical cyclone named Danielle (an ex hurricane Category 1), will appear on the horizon during the weekend from the Atlantic Ocean, spreading rain and bringing strong wind gusts across the British Isles.
