Tornadoes in Indiana leaves casualties and destruction

On Sunday a few tornadoes were reported in Indiana, especially between Indianapolis and Greenwood causing people to lose their lives. Many damages in buildings there were observed, flights were delayed or canceled and many houses were without electricity.

On Sunday evening, a tornado hit a neighborhood, in a rural area of Martin County in southern Indiana, destroying a house and killing a man and injuring his wife, while reports show that there are other one or two casualties.

Another tornado tore through the Indianapolis suburban communities of Greenwood and Bargersville Sunday afternoon, while it was reported that at least 75 houses suffered moderate to severe damage. In Arkansas, two people lost their lives and a third injured when a tree fell on a home in Carlisle. Meanwhile, due to the severe weather in many regions, over 6.000 flights were canceled or delayed with the most affected airports being in the New York City area (LaGuardia, Newark, John F. Kennedy), Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, which serves Atlanta, and O’Hare Airport, in Chicago.

In recent years it seems that the tornado season is starting more early and the country known as Tornado Alley, a region where most tornadoes occur, seems to be shifting eastward, according to the latest scientific data.
